Union City - Timothy Rex McCoy, known as “Big Mac”, passed away on March 31, 2026, at the age of 65. Born on May 13, 1960, in Union City, Indiana, to Rex and Anne McCoy, Tim lived a full and authentic life surrounded by sports, music, family, and friendships that spanned decades.
Tim graduated from Union City Community High School in 1978 and Ball State University in 1982. He went on to have a successful career in the insurance industry in Fort Wayne, Springfield, and Beavercreek, which included earning his CPCU designation.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rex, and nephew Emory Gray. Tim will be loved and missed by his wife, Susie (Tarbell) McCoy, his daughter Chloe McCoy, his mother Anne, his siblings Lisa, David, and Brian (Andrea), four nieces, one nephew, six great nieces and nephews, cherished cousins, lifelong friends, and his faithful dogs.
Tim was an athlete and avid sports fan, dedicating countless hours in his recliner to watching the Indiana Hoosiers, Cincinnati Reds, and Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed annual trips with his closest friends to the Indy 500, as well as seeing The Rolling Stones in concert numerous times. When not attending live events, he created his own experience with a predictable YouTube playlist and a glass of wine in hand.
A celebration of his life will be held on May 16th, 2026, at 4:00 pm at Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W Deerfield Road, Union City, IN. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with Tim’s urn present. This will be followed by time for friends and family to share their fondest memories and funny stories.
This life will not be the same without Tim, but the memories he has left behind will keep him in our hearts forever.
In place of flowers, please consider making a donation in his name to the Union City Alumni Foundation (unioncityalumnifoundation.org).
