Thelma May (Paulin) Grimes, 89

 

Thelma May Grimes, of Union City, Indiana, died peacefully on Friday, November 28, 2014, at Union City Assisted Living, Union City, Indiana, with her loving family surrounding her.

 

She was born October 25, 1925, to the late Abraham and Alice (Zech) Paulin.  She was employed at Mississinawa Valley Schools as a cook in the cafeteria until her retirement.  She was also a seamstress, sewing many beautiful wedding gowns and cheerleading outfits.  She was a life member of Greenville Farm Power of the Past, Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association Inc., and the Randolph Antique Tractor Club. She was a member of the New Lisbon Christian Church, Union City, Indiana.

 

Survivors include her 4 children: Sharon (Jim) Hipple of Lancaster, Ohio; Richard (Patricia) Grimes of Ansonia, Ohio; Jack (Jane) Grimes and Judy (Mark) Cline of Union City, Indiana; 9 grandchildren: Tricia (Mike) Daubenmire of Canal Winchester, Ohio; Steve (Candy) Bolyard of Greenville, Ohio; Mandy (Mike) Curless of Winchester, Indiana; Tammy (Al) Countryman of Englewood, Ohio; Brian (Kyong) Crawford, of Plant City, Florida; Brian (Monica) Cline of Winchester, Indiana; and Julie Dever, Jamie Matchett and Eric (Tammy) Cline all of Union City, Indiana.  Also surviving are 20 great grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James Nolan Grimes, in August of 2011; her parents and two sisters, Omah Smith and Cecil Kaufman.

 

Visitation is Tuesday from Noon to 2:00 p.m. at Reichard Funeral Home, Union City, Indiana, with funeral services immediately following with Pastor Susan Deverall officiating.  Burial is at Teegarden Cemetery, Ansonia, Ohio.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice of Portland, Indiana, or the Gideons Bible Organization with envelopes available at the funeral home.
