Ralph Henry "Cy" Whitesel

UNION CITY – Ralph Henry “Cy” Whitesel, 94, passed away early Saturday morning November 8, 2014 surrounded by family at the Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

He was born on August 15, 1920 in Randolph County, son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Frazier) Whitesel.

Cy was a lifelong farmer; he worked at the Union City Body Company for 40+ years retiring in 1983; was an Elder at the South Salem Church of Christ,  and also was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Core.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Willa Dean “Billie” Whitesel; children, John Mark Whitesel of U.C., Ohio, James Scott Whitesel of Edgerton, Ohio, Melissa Brandon of U.C., Ohio, and Linda (husband Lee) Bridges of U.C., Ohio; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; a brother, Jack (wife Betty) Whitesel of U.C., Indiana and a sister, Virginia Puderbaugh of Palm Desert, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry Whitesel, Perry “Bill” Whitesel Sr., Lawrence “Dutch” Whitesel, Fred Whitesel, Charles Whitesel and John Whitesel; sisters, Annabelle Brewer and Doris “Dot” Sharp.

Funeral services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc. 400 W. Deerfield Rd. Union City, Indiana with Ed Phenis officiating.  Burial will follow at the Union City Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Randolph County Color Guard.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m Tuesday November 11, 2014 at the Funeral Home and also an hour prior to services Wednesday.

Memorial contributions can be directed to Reid Healthcare Hospice or Darke County Cancer Services with envelopes available at the Funeral Home.
