Ora Benavidez

March 14, 1942 — July 12, 2014

Oralia “Ora” Garza Benavidez, 72, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday July 12, 2014. She passed peacefully at her home with  her husband Tony at her side.  Ora was born March 14, 1942 in Nixon, TX to the late Jose and Sulema Garza. 

She was married to Antonio “Tony” Benavidez on June 29, 1963.  Ora was a very loving and caring woman not only to family but to others as well.  She was taught a strong work ethic early in life through her parents.  She and her husband owned and operated the Union City Country Club for over 35 years, she also owned and operated the “Flying Burrito” restaurant in Greenville, OH from 1985 thru 1993, her Flying Burrito stand at the Darke County Fair is still a popular spot, she was known as the “Burrito Lady.”  For 10 years she worked for Darke County Health Services as a Migrant Coordinator.  She was a member of the Greenville Business and Professional Women’s club and attended the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary and Women of the Moose both of Greenville, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Antonio “Tony” Benavidez, children, Joseph Anthony Benavidez of Lima, OH, Carlos Benavidez and Ramon Randall Benavidez both of Union City, Ohio, 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Benavidez and Xavier “Seve” Benavidez, a sister Augustina (Jose) Juarez of Elroy Arizona and a brother-in-law Felix Mungia of Robstown, TX.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 infant children, Laura Ann and Ramon Benavidez, and siblings, Gregory Garza, Anita Mungia and Rosando Garza.

Visitation will be 5-8 P.M. Friday July 18, 2014 at the Reichard Funeral Home Inc. 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, Indiana, and also from 10:30 A.M.-12:30 P.M. Saturday at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church 601 Jennings Road Van Wert, Ohio 45891 with Mass to follow led by the Father Stan Szybka.  Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert, Ohio.
