Michael Dean Hardwick

December 29, 1974 — June 13, 2023

Winchester, IN

Michael Dean Hardwick (48) of Union City, Indiana, son of the late Harold and Doris (Ireland) Hardwick, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday June 13, 2023.

Michael can be described as funny, energetic, well-meaning, generous, and loving. Mike was called what some called a “jack of all trades.” Over the years he displayed multiple talents such as welding, repairing cars, a handyman, as well as a short-order cook. He enjoyed numerous hobbies such as playing Scrabble, hands of Euchre, a strategic game of chess (of which he also taught his kids; sometimes even letting them win) and exercising his artistic skills of doodling and drawing. It’s been said he admired Bob Ross’ work, demonstrated on his weekly cable shows. Michael’s greatest accomplishment could be found in all the lives he touched, especially his children and extended family. Before his stroke left him wheelchair-bound five years ago, Mike was actively completing multiple home improvements for others, heartily involved in his community, and enjoying his hobby of increasing his movie collection. in fact, Mike never met a stranger, he easily built friendships with others, exercising all his natural charisma.

Michael is survived by his children Alex Michael (Sue) Gordon of Richmond, KY, Austin Lee (Erin Trexler) Hardwick of Hendersonville, TN, Matthew Wade (Hannah) Hardwick of Portland, IN, Samantha Loraine Hardwick of Portland, IN, Madeline AnneMarie and Miley Dean Hardwick of Ft. Recovery, OH and grandchildren Kalvin, Easton, Aiden, Wynn, Asher, Elliot and Griffin (expected to arrive in September).

Michael is survived by siblings Jeannie, Gary, Margaret (Mike), Marilyn (Gary), Bill (Josey), his twin Tony (Stevi), Molly (Charles), and late Richard Hardwick.

Those who knew Michael could anticipate hearing some of his favorite movie quotes such as “I da pappy,” or “Owen! Get me some Pepsi with some ice in it!,” “The dude abides,” and “Donny, you’re out of your element.” He was skilled at making people laugh, randomly belting out familiar tunes, shimmying across the room with his impressive dance moves, and entertaining all with every chance he got. Mike’s voice continues to echo through time with a resounding, “Love, love love!,” “Just one more,” and “Get me a Mountain Dew!”
