Mary Veronica (Gates) Redmond of Farmland, IN passed away at 93 years old on March 19, 2026, at Pine Knoll in Winchester surrounded by family.

Mary started the Operation Shoe Box ministry at St. Joseph’s many years ago, which lives on in Barbara Medler’s care. She worked at the St. Lawrence soup kitchen in Muncie and made 60 lunches once a month for over 30 years. When she was no longer able to do so on her own, her son Daniel delivered them to the soup kitchen. She also made baby layettes for families in need through the program Morgan’s First Gift in Randolph County.
Mary was preceded by Bill, her loving husband of 59 years in 2019, her children Rick Redmond, Don Redmond, Mark Neff, and sister, Donna Welker.
Mary is survived by her children Brian (Sherry) of Taylorsville, NC; Daniel (Linda) of Farmland, IN; John (Robin) of Muncie, IN; Christopher (Sharon) of Kansas City, MO; brother Everett (Emily) Gates; daughter-in-law Shirley (Steve) Grevenkamp; brother-in-law Jack Welker; grandchildren Jodi (David) Neumayer, Carrie Moore, Mike (Kaycie) Mehrhoff, Mark Mehrhoff, Christopher Neff, Jared Neff, Dale Redmond, Ashley (Jeff) Hanson, Chelsea (Spencer) Wright, Brandon (Nick) Cosinteno, Scott (Angel) Blanchard, Nate Rose, Beth (Aaron) Eide.
