We are deeply saddened to share that Marcelina Duque Sanchez, 75, went home with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 15, 2025, at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

Marcelina was born on April 6, 1950, in Ejido Montebello, Ciudad del Maiz, San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Efren Duque Barron and Eulalia Sanchez Martinez.

There she lived the majority of her life, raising seven children, along with her husband, Rafael Banda Tovar. She first visited the United States in 2014 and made a permanent move in 2023.

Marcelina was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family and remaining active around the house, cooking, gardening, and doing whatever she could to ensure her family had what they needed.

Survivors include her Husband Rafael Banda Tovar, sons Juan (Flor Orozco), Luciano (Claudia Avila), Noe (Andrea Espinoza), Sergio and Oscar Banda, and daughters Maribel (Placido)Tovar Banda and Ana Karina (Jesus) Jiménez Banda; Grandchildren: Carissa, Efrain (Son of Rocio Banda, partner of Shelby Miller), Bryseida (Daughter of Rocio Banda), Estefany (Daughter of Rocio Banda, wife of Fortino Angulo), Arleth (Daughter of Rocio Banda) and Cintia Banda; Luciano Jr. (Son of Amber Westfall), Sandra (Daughter of Amber Westfall, wife of Joel Mares), Areli (Nic Wells), Yareni, Elianna, Leiny and Jacob Banda; Weendy Joselin, Noe Jr., Christian and Jason Banda; Olivia (Justin Waugh), Sergio Jr., Rafael, Karen and Iker Banda; Jennifer (Jose Luis Najera), Michael, Giselle and Daylen Tovar; Annalise, Adalynn, Landon and Oscar Jr. Banda; and Roslyn and Jesus Javier Jiménez Jr.; Great grandchildren: Jordan Jr. and Jaycee; Adriel Mejia, Ella and Citlali Banda; Evelyn Angulo; Colton Wells, Mariela and Miliana Waugh, and Fabian and Julian Najera.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Magdalena.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, from 5-8 p.m. at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 425 W. Hickory St., Union City, Indiana 47390. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Union City.
