Luanna Hollowell

Luanna Hollowell passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026.

Born in Union City, IN, on November 28, 1947, Luanna graduated from Union City Community High School in 1965. Throughout her life, she was known for her strong work ethic, warm heart, and genuine kindness. She attended Indiana University, completed cosmetology school, and earned her Indiana Real Estate Broker license.

From 1965 to 1980, Luanna owned and operated her own cosmetology salon while also serving as a partner at American Realty from 1970 to 1980. She later worked at Rickert Implement before beginning a 30-year career with Anchor Glass, where she remained until her retirement.

Above all, Luanna found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her family. She also enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy and listening to music. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. Whether on family vacations or simply enjoying everyday moments together, she created lasting memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Luanna shared 44 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Steve Hollowell.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth Brown (Rowland), her father, Estel Byrum, and her brothers, Gary Byrum and Michael Byrum.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Hollowell, her sisters, Terri, Becky, and Lorinda, and her sons, Doug Curtner, Chad Curtner (Tiffany Wilson), Brian (Barb) Hollowell, and Aaron (Megan) Hollowell. She was a cherished grandmother to Brach, Victoria, Matthew, Olivia, Bailey, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Carter, a proud great-grandmother to Braylon, Harper, Coltyn, Weston, and Jameson, and a beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive visitors from 11 am to 1 pm on August 22, 2026 at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN. A funeral service to celebrate Luanna’s life will begin at 1:00 with burial and graveside services to follow at Reitenour Cemetery in Deerfield, IN.
