Kirk Jackson passed away on March 2, 2026, at Persimmon Ridge in Portland, IN. He was born February 1, 1962, to Eva and Paul Jackson.
Kirk became ill with a high fever as an infant, which resulted in severe brain damage. The doctors said he would not live to two years old. When he surpassed that, they predicted his death before age five. The doctors wanted his mother to place him in an institution. Eva kept Kirk at home. It was her love and devotion and the care she and Kirk's brothers and sisters gave that helped Kirk overcome so many obstacles.
His brother John recalls carrying him downstairs and spoon feeding him milk in the mornings and rejoicing when at age five, taking his first bite of food, which was a cake he watched his mother make.
His brother Ed remembers Kirk finally walking at about six years old. Kirk learned to walk by watching his baby brother Jack, learning to walk. So out of the blue, he stood up to walk too
Kirk overcame many obstacles. He learned to talk and could comprehend most things, but his verbal conversation was limited.
He could learn a task if he felt he wanted to do it. He mastered making a pitcher of tea because he loved tea.
Today, Kirk is in heaven, and he is talking his head off to all his loved ones there. Mother. Sisters, brother, aunts, and uncles. I know they are rejoicing to have him join them.
Kirk was preceded in death by his mother and father, his sisters Rita and Brenda, and his brother Kenny.
He is survived by his brothers, John Craiger (Lisa), Ed Jackson (Judy), and Jack Jackson (Lisa). His sister Kim Martin (Charles).
And many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kirk was well loved and will be missed by all who knew him. But we are rejoicing at his reunion in heaven, and we look forward to seeing him there one day.
