June E. McCracken

June E. McCracken, 99 of Union City peacefully passed away February 21, 2023, at her daughter’s home in Richmond, IN where she had been residing for the past two years. 

June enjoyed most of her life as a farmer’s wife with her husband Walter Eugene “Dewey” McCracken who passed in 1992.  June enjoyed camping, reading, gardening, ceramics, but most of all cooking for all her family and friends.  Even during her final days she would ask everyone including doctors and nurses if they had eaten and if they would like to go out to eat with her. She would have suggested the Olive Garden, her go to place to eat, and a glass of wine.  Nothing got her down including breast, lung, and skin cancer.  You could never count the number of times that was heard “she is such a sweet & cute little lady”.  She will be missed by all that knew her. 

June is survived by her daughter Annette Root (Budd) of Richmond, IN, Linda Storm of Goshen, IN, seven grandchildren, Dj, Michael, and Larry Justice of Dayton, OH, Jennifer James (Billy), of Florida, Tracy Winrott (Rick) of Goshen, IN, Rick M. Root (Jennifer)of Union City, Josh Root of Lynn, sixteen great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren. 

June was preceded in death by her husband, son Michael Reeves McCracken, daughter  Sylvia Lee Justice, Grandson Michael Brad McCracken, great granddaughter Jennie Root, sisters Patsy Fulk Goldsberry, Jeanettte Dickey Shackle, and brothers Bob and Jack Wilson. Many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for June will be Tuesday February 28, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN 47390. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm with Bruce Applegate officiating. 

Following services, burial will take place beside her husband in Union City Cemetery.
