John D Ford, 88, of Union City, IN passed away on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home, with family at his side.
John was born in Perry, Michigan on October 16, 1931 to the late Harley and Ila (Sands) Ford. He was a graduate of Morenci High School- Morenci, Michigan and the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Nebraska.
John served in the Air Force for 23 years. He moved to Union City in 1973 and served on the city council and then as mayor from 1988-1992. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the VFW.
John loved his family and friends. He enjoyed people, traveling, working cross word puzzles, and was an avid reader.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Evelyn of 68 years, four children Nancy (James) Dick, Beverly (Mark) Lenkensdofer, Melanie (Alvin) Lofton, and Phillip (Donna) Ford; five grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Due to government restriction the family will hold a celebration of John’s life at a later date.
