Horace "Sonny" Hunt Jr.

Horace “Sonny” Hunt Jr. 91 of Union City, OH passed away on June 15, 2025, at Reid Hospital. He was born on June 2, 1934, to the late Horace Hunt Sr. and Frances (Haynes) Hunt.

Sonny lived most of his life in Union City, Indiana. He was a member of South Salem Church of Christ for over 40 years. In his early 20’s he enjoyed playing semi-pro baseball for many years. He worked 43 ½ years at Sheller Globe as an Engineer after graduating from Anderson High School.

Sonny and Darlene spent hours of enjoyment painting “happy little trees” the Bob Ross Way, working on jigsaw puzzles, tending to their tomato plants, fishing, golfing, playing cards with family and friends and taking amazing vacations around the United States.

Sonny had a fierce passion for the Cincinnati Bengals and Reds Teams. People knew not to stop by the house when either of those two teams were playing or you would be drafted into one of their fan clubs.

Survivors include his wife Darlene of 40 years, children; Randy Hunt, Carrie King, Dan Hunt, Debra Van De Pittie, Rick, Randy, Dean and Raymond Jenkinson, 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday June 20, 2025, at South Salem Church of Christ 7126 E. 100 S, Union City, IN 47390.

Funeral services will take place at the church on Saturday June 21, 2025, at 11:00 am with visitation 1 hour prior.

In leu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Salem Church of Christ.

Burial will follow at Union City Cemetery.
