Gretchen Pauline Abel

Gretchen Pauline Abel 93 passed away on December 29, 2023, at her daughters’ residence.  She was born on March 14, 1930, to the late Everett Prescott and Margaret Scholl Prescott.  She married Harold “Bud” Abel on August 6, 1948, and he preceded her in death in 2001.

Gretchen was a CNA at Randolph Nursing Home for 16 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Union City, IN where she was involved with many activities.  Gretchen volunteered at the Union City Help Center as well as sewing quilts for the church.

Survivors include her children; Belinda Ritenour of Roanoke, IN, Dana (Devida) Abel of Winchester, IN, Stephanie (Craig) Faulkner of Dunkirk, IN, grandchildren; Shauna (John) Hopkins, Derrick Abel, Jenni (Tom) Raber, Tiffany (Mustafa) Aly, 11 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son in law David Ritenour, and a brother Calvin Prescott.

A visitation will be held at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN on Wednesday January 3, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.  Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday January 4, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church with visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Burial to follow at Union City Cemetery.
