Glen Leon “Pete” Peters, 93, of Union City, Indiana, passed away on May 20, 2026, at Pineknoll Rehabilitation Centre in Winchester, Indiana. He was born on January 22, 1933, in Randolph County, the youngest of three sons of Frank L. and Edna (Fox) Peters.
After graduating from Spartanburg High School where he played basketball and performed in band and theater, Glen served in Wiesbaden, West Germany as a U. S. Army corporal during the Korean War. A proud veteran throughout his life, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He also pursued public service with a run for state representative.
Glen began his career stocking shelves in his parents’ general store in Arba, Indiana. His fascination with automobiles grew into a lifelong passion, leading him to own and operate service stations, vehicle repair shops, and sales businesses. He eventually became owner of Weaver Motors, Inc., the regional Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealership based in Celina, Ohio. Many knew him through these efforts and through his retirement work as a rental property owner, at one point managing 27 properties.
He and his wife loved to go dancing together. He was also known as a dedicated Euchre player, an enthusiasm he maintained throughout his life and which he happily passed on to his grandchildren. He was a regular attendee and usher at Harrisville Congregational Church for 18 years.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dale Peters; two sisters-in-law, Lavera and Martha; his stepdaughter Sheila (Simmons) Stults; grandson-in-law, Dirk Ewers; and his beloved wife of 51 years, Annabelle (Fouse) Peters.
He is survived by his sons Michael Peters (Perry Johnson) of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and Patrick Peters (Elizabeth Gregory) of Houston, Texas; his brother, Keith Peters; his stepson Howard Simmons (Jeannie) of Prosper, Texas; his son-in-law, Cliff Stults of Winchester; and grandchildren Jean Peters, Sophie Peters, Rick Simmons (Theresa), Mimi Lindsey (Carey), Craig Simmons (Susan), Ganhan Ewers, O.D.; great grandchildren Logan, Christian, Colby, Gigi, Evan, Emma, and Aidan.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 30th, at Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, Indiana, with Pastor Coleman Smith officiating. Visitation is 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Fountain Park Cemetery, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Harrisville Congregational Church 4900 E. South Street Union City, IN 47390 with envelopes available at the funeral home.
