Florence E. Bateman, 93, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Village Green Healthcare in Greenville. She was born on January 16, 1928, in Union City, OH, to the late Ora and Elsie (Stump) Livingston. She married the late Francis Junior Bateman.
Florence was very active in her church, Community United Methodist Church. She was also a member of The Progressive Homemakers. She was especially known for her talented sewing skills and cooking. Her homemade noodles and baked beans were just as famous as her “special†bread. She and Junior enjoyed years of travel with B&S Travel Club. She loved each one of her trips as they were all described by her as unique and could not pick a favorite. In her younger years, she was active in biking and participated in the Great Ohio Bike Adventure.
Even though she loved cooking and sewing, her greatest joy was her family. She took delight in watching them at school activities, baking with them, going on bike rides, and taking the grandkids on trips.
She is survived by her children, Ed (Marilyn) Bateman, of Union City, Indiana; Christine (Barry) Eliker, of Greenville, Ohio; Clyde (Chris) Bateman, of New Weston, Ohio, and Rae Jean (Kenny) Govier of The Villages, Florida. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Amanda (Bob) Tinsley, Patricia (Kevin) Austin, Jeff (Annie) Wickersham, Chase Wright, Kimberly (Jason) Huighe, Jonathan (Amy ) Bateman, Emily (Chris) Reinhard, Molly Bateman, Bridget (Brian) Merchant, and Whitney Nieland, 21 great grandchildren; Brother, Danny Livingston (Lois) of Union City, Ohio; Sister, Joan (Eugene) Hime of Union City, Indiana, and sister in law, Carol Walls of Greenville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 73 years, Francis Junior Bateman, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 sister- in -law, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.
Florence was the matriarch of her family. Her passing leaves a great void in their lives. She will fondly be remembered as a great role model and a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at Lisbon Cemetery in Union City, IN.
