Ellen Louise (Cole) King passed away peacefully in her home on the morning of March 6th, 2026, cared for by loving family and serenaded with her beloved hymns. Ellen was a lifelong organ player in church, playing the piano and organ for over 80 years, including playing the famous Johnson and Sons Opus 779 Pipe Organ at Cass Community United Methodist Church in Detroit, Michigan.
Ellen attended Boston University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in the field of music and fell in love with college hockey, attending numerous Frozen Four tournaments, accompanied by her grandchildren. She graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity in August of 1982. She also loved traveling and, with her husband, achieved her life-long goal of visiting all 50 of the United States of America. Ellen was a self-published poet.
Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ellen is preceded in death by her husband, and is survived by her three children, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 16, 2026.
A service to celebrate Ellen’s life will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday March 17, 2026, at Union City Global Methodist Church 117 N. Franklin Street, Union City, OH with Eric Swenson officiating. Burial to follow at New Lisbon Cemetery.
