Earl Joe Mills

Earl Joe Mills of Union City, IN passed away at his home after an extended illness on Monday, January 20, 2014. Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always took time for his family and was always there when someone needed help. He will greatly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Joe was born on April 11, 1934 in Union City, OH to Earl William Mills and Lulu Breimyer Mills. He attended Jackson School in Union City, OH and completed his GED in 1992.

Joe worked at Westinghouse and AO Smith for 35 years until it closed in 1987. Joe owned and operated Mills Electric from 1968 until present repairing appliances and small motors. He also did appliance repair for Durbin's Appliances and Hawkins Appliance. Joe was a "jack of all trades" and was self taught mostly through reading. He was a member of The Trinity Lutheran Church in Union City, IN and attended The Winchester First Church of the Nazarene and The Church of The Nazarene in Union City, IN. Joe was a past member of Phi Delta Kappa Club in Winchester and  Elks in Union City, IN. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren,traveling, camping, boating, visiting museums, history and genealogy.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 12 years, Carole Sue Canada Mills; two sons, Earl Kent (Janice) Mills of Nolanville, TX, Kirt Mills of Union City, IN; three grandchildren, Terry (Brandy) Mills of Lynn, Earl Brian (Amanda) Mills of Fishers, Heather (Scott) Hamilton Himes of Parker City; nine great-grandchildren, Carassia Mills, Brandon Mills, Noah Mills, Shelby Mills, Samantha Mills, Owen Mills, Harrison Hamilton, Graham Himes and Spencer Himes; one sister, Bernice "Tootie" (Phil) Prescott of Winchester; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Barber and Annabelle "Annie" Stover. Funeral services are 11am Saturday at Reichard Funeral Home, 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, IN with Pastor Danny Hines officiating. Burial is at Union City Cemetery, Union City, IN.

Visitation is 4-7pm Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reichardfh.com.
