Donald Prewitt

L. Donald Prewitt, age 83, of Union City, IN, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 in Reid Hospital Hospice Care Unit in Richmond.

He was born on February 15, 1935 in Berea, KY to Lyle J. and Bertha (Payne) Prewitt.  He retired from Triangle Pacific Co. after 27 years of service in 1989.  He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Union City, OH and was a former member of the Union City Eagles.  He loved to garden.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sara Evelyn (Swisher) Prewitt of Union City, IN; a son, Daniel K. (Lani) Prewitt of Waycross, GA; a son, Robert L. (Jennifer Dorraugh) of Union City, IN; a daughter, Amy E. Green (fiancé Bruce Sturgeon) of Union City, OH; 5 grandchildren, Sara (Anthony)  Mangas, Matthew Prewitt, Elizabeth Prewitt, May Prewitt and Abby Green; 2 great grandchildren, Kain and Titan Mangas; 4 sisters, Pauline Devary of Winchester, KY, Faye Eddington of Frankfort, KY, Ruth Allen of Berea, KY, Dorothy Smith of Paint Lick, KY; a brother, Bobby Prewitt of Richmond, KY; 2 sister-in-laws, Gola Prewitt and Virginia Prewitt, both of Winchester, KY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Gary Green and 2 brothers, Doug and Harold Prewitt; brother in law, Larry Smith.

Funeral services for Don will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Reichard Funeral Home in Union City with Daniel Prewitt officiating.  Burial will follow in Union City Cemetery.  

Friends and relatives may call from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.reichardfh.com.  Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
