UNION CITY - Donald K. Key, 94, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on December 19, 2017. Donald was born June 15, 1923 to the late Herman V. & Grace Royer Key in Darke County, Ohio. Donald graduated from Union City High School and served in WW2 with the Army. He owned and operated Key Plumbing & Heating and Key Air Service. Donald was a 68 yr. member of New Lisbon Christian Church, Kiwanis 32 Yrs., Barbershop Chorus, American Legion and V.F.W. all of Union City, Indiana. Donald enjoyed piloting his own plane, singing, playing guitar, and keeping up the farm.
Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Madonna Key; children, Donna Lyn Key of U.C., IN, Nancy (Dave) Kading of Fargo, ND, Karen Key, Darlene Hutchison, and David Key all of Union City; step children, Melinda Carpenter of Winchester, IN, Joe (Kelli) Hueber of South Whitley, IN, Jennifer (Terry) McGuire of Stanton, VA; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Beverly) Key of Ft. Wayne, IN; special friends Deb Hollister and Jim Sheets.
Preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Dakota (Neargarder) Key; grandson, Nathan Willis, 2 brothers, Delbert and Hubert Key; four sisters, Mary (Baker) Bemis, Jeannie Lewis, Carol Dickes and Alena Mong.
Services are 11:00 A.M. Saturday Dec. 23, 2017 at the New Lisbon Christian Church. Visitation is 10-11 A.M. also at the church. Burial will follow in the New Lisbon Cemetery with Military Burial Rites conducted by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
