UNION CITY, OH - Dolores Jane Nestor, 80, went to be with her Lord Friday, May 26th, 2017. This amazing wife, mother, and grandmother was born on February 26th, 1937 in Darke County, Ohio to the late Carl & Helen (Welker) Miller.
Dolores was a Christian who had deep faith in God. She worked at Mingles for 8 years before becoming a homemaker, and took care of several children over the years, including Kimberly (Wright) Huighe, whom she felt was her second daughter for 11 years. She was a beautiful soul, who never met a stranger and always had a smile for whomever she encountered and would do anything for anyone, especially her family and friends. She was an excellent cookie maker, sometimes getting up early in the morning to make snicker doodles for her daughter to take to work, so that everyone could enjoy warm cookies to start their day.
She volunteered at Center of Hope Nursing Home for several years, doing baking classes with the residents. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, never missing out on any event that she was able to attend.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dale Nestor; daughter, Debbie (Rodney Swabb) Baker; two grandchildren, who were her world, Austin and Cavin Baker; a sister, Helen (Waldo) Jenkinson; brother & sister-in-laws, Dave (Marilyn) Nestor, Walter (Sharon) Nestor, Wanda (Kenny) Vandevander, Louise (Ted) Ensminger; numerous nieces and nephews also.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Ellen McGhee, brother and sister-in-law, Ed & Marcella Nestor, and her best friend of 70 years, Judy Sullenbarger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, June 2nd from 4 pm-6 pm at Reichard Funeral Home Inc., 400 W. Deerfield Rd., Union City, IN. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Darke County Cancer Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
