Cheryl Jean Tillman

Cheryl Jean (Lewis) Tillman, age 65, of Union City, IN passed away after a 5-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Cheryl was a lifelong resident of Union City, graduating from Union City Community High School in 1976 and studied ophthalmic optics at Indiana University. She married her high school sweetheart Dave Tillman and together they farmed and raised their two daughters Emma Tillman of Carmel, IN and Eva Tillman Abel of Muncie.

Cheryl was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church serving as a Sunday School teacher and preschool board member. She has been an engaged community member supporting school and community activities. Aside from spending time with her family, Cheryl was an avid bird watcher and shared her love of birds with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and daughters, she is survived by her son-in-law Brock Abel and two grandchildren Emmaline Abel and Tillman Abel, her sister Dinah Collins and brother James Lewis, sister-in-law Nancy (Paul) Threewits. Bother-in-laws Ron (Tracy) Tillman, Bob (Teresa) Tillman, and Mark (Tami) Tillman as well as 2 nieces and 5 nephews, and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Jim and Jeanie Lewis, parents-in-law Richard and Dorothy Tillman, sister-in-law Teresa Lewis.

You may pay tribute to Cheryl from 9:30 - 11:00 am Tuesday April 18, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1470 W. State Road 28, Union City, IN 47390. A celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Saratoga Cemetery.
