Caroline Louise Horn

October 23, 1929 — March 31, 2024

Winchester, IN

Caroline Horn 94 of Union City, IN passed away on March 31, 2024, in Winchester.  She was born on October 23, 1929, in Pleasant Hill, OH to the late Rayburn Black and Caroline Weiss Black.

Caroline was a graduate of Madison High School.  If you were blessed to know Caroline, you know she was many things.  She was an avid gardener and woman of God.  Her faith carried her through many hard times throughout her life.  She married Melvin Walters, who preceded her in death when her three kids were young.  She may have told you about the time she milked cows on the family farm.   She was resilient in raising her family.   Caroline also worked for the phone company as well as Sheller Globe.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Eastern Star.

She eventually re-married Evan Horn, whom she spent most of her life with.  Together they owned and operated Starlight Skating Rink. Her daughter Cindy’s death was very hard on her.  They took care of Shelly for several years.

Caroline was a beacon for love, strength and being a bit stubborn.  If you ever had a bite of her apple pie you know she loved to bake a good pie.

Survivors include her sons; Bruce Walters of Indianapolis, IN, Melvin Walters of Portland, IN, grandchildren; Kimberly (Jeremy) Turner, Christina (Todd) Matthew, Jeremy (Shannan) Walters, Michelle Horn, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Melvin Walters, Evan Horn, daughter Cynthia Walters-Mills, brothers Ted Black and Billy Black.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12 Noon on Friday April 5, 2024, at Reichard Funeral Home 400 W. Deerfield Road Union City, IN.
