Carol Patricia Macy (1923–2020)
Carol Patricia Macy, age 97, passed away peacefully on December 14. She was born on November 14, 1923, to Lynn and Ruby (Rhoads) Current in Jay County, IN, and graduated from Union City (IN) High School. During her working years, she was City Clerk-Treasurer of Union City and a tax auditor for the Indiana Department of Revenue. Carol was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Union City and had also been a long-time member of Bartonia United Methodist Church. She was active in a number of organizations, including Randolph County Mental Health, Women’s Club, and the Randolph County Historical Society.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Frederick Deal, daughter Melissa Deal, daughter Gretchen Deal Wissel, husband John R. Macy, and stepson William K. Macy. Survivors include her sister, Nancy Snyder (Russiaville), daughter Melanie Deal (Evanston, IL), stepson James B. Macy (Pompano Beach, FL), grandchildren Amanda Wissel (Lombard, IL) and Gregory Hill (Chicago, IL), great-grandchildren Sarah and Hannah Buffington, and beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
There will be no public visitation. Interment will be in Union City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staffs at Parker Health & Rehabilitation Center (Parker City), American Heritage Assisted Living (Union City), and Ball Memorial Hospital (Muncie) for their care in recent years.
