He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard J. Liss, his mother, Catherine (Sobota) Liss, his step mother Pearl Liss, his brother Ronald Liss, his brother and sister-in-law William and Rachael Savage, and his son, Kevin Liss.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 56 years, Judy (Durham) Liss, their sons, James Alan (Connie) Liss and Kelley (Karen) Liss. Hid sister Debra Liss and Cindi Wise, and his great niece Angel Liss. His grandchildren, Mandy Liss, Ryan (Jessica) Liss, Chrystal (Rupam) Som, Kendra Liss, Cassandra (JD) West and Cameron Liss. Bernie lived a long and full life, where he lived most of it in Union City Indiana with his wife of 56 years, Judy Liss. He worked in many different areas throughout his life, including at the candy factory, building maintenance, EMT/firefighter, various other factories, and eventually retired from work as a semi-truck driver. Bernie and his wife were members of the Red Knights motorcycle club for years and did many poker runs and rides for their grandchildren. Later in life Bernie enjoyed taking his great grandchildren on golf cart rides. Anyone who knew Bernie knew that even though he was a stubborn man, he also loved to make people smile and laugh. He felt if he made a person smile at least once a day, he had done his job. He also enjoyed sharing his wisdom in later life with his great grandchildren, as well as sharing his whistling with anyone in ear range.
