Barbie Jo Shaneyfelt-Salazar, age 62, passed peacefully in her home at 12:07 a.m. on July 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving daughter and granddaughter.
Born June 2, 1963, in Winchester, Indiana, Barbie devoted her life to faith, family, and service. She is survived by her beloved daughter Orlana Salazar, cherished granddaughter Laila Salazar, and very loved niece, Mackenzie Kinnison, who she raised for 13 years. She also leaves behind her mother, Mary Shaneyfelt and siblings: Phillip Jr. (Melissa), Bradley (Angel), Cristy, Reney (Kathy), and bonus sister, Melissa, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Philip Shaneyfelt.
Barbie was a lifelong servant of God whose kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith touched everyone she met. As a cook in her restaurants, in schools, and at the cinema, she was sure to spread the love of Jesus. She served most memorably, in countless ministries and outreach efforts, spearheading the famous elephant ear booth of Abundant Life UPC 31 years ago. A graduate of clown college, a prison ministry leader, food bank distributions, a supporter of children's ministries, and addiction programs, Barbie gave herself fully to helping others.
She was a devoted member of Winchester United Pentecostal Church for 52 years and Solid Rock Apostolic Church in Bradford, Ohio for the past 11 years. Her gifts of singing and playing the saxophone were always dedicated to glorifying the Lord. She was known not only for her music but also for her fervent prayers, serving as a true prayer warrior to anyone in need, at any hour.
Barbie never met a stranger. She welcomed the unloved, stood beside the broken, and gave even when she had little. She was dependable in her love, generous with her heart, and unshakable in her faith. A devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend — Barbie’s legacy of compassion, service, and love will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Barbie will be able to have her last church service on July 26, 2025, at 5pm located at Solid Rock Apostolic Church 8991 Old State Route 36 Bradford, Ohio 45308.
A visitation will be held on July 27, 2025, from 4pm until 8pm at Abundant Life UPC, 460 Elm St. Winchester, IN 47394, with a final farewell and celebration of life on July 28 at 1pm.
