Barbara "Barb" Lois Zehringer, 91, of Union City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026. Born on August 25, 1934, in Muncie, Indiana, Barbara lived a life filled with love, faith, and dedication to her family and community.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Zehringer, as well as her parents and three siblings. She is survived by her son Michael Zehringer and daughters Vickey Zehringer and Mary Grey and her sister Janice (James) Jarnigan. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Tony (Tracy) Zehringer, Rob (Amber) Zehringer, Dustin Hufford, Mindi (Lee) Penrod, Melody Zehringer, Laura (Ian) Jackson and Andrew Grey, nine great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces, and special friends

A woman of deep faith, Barbara had a strong relationship with God and instilled the love of Jesus into her family. She regularly attended local church services until she was no longer physically able to do so but found solace in watching televised services. Her unwavering faith was a cornerstone of her life and an inspiration to those who knew her.

Barbara had a profound love for animals. She was an active supporter of the SPCA and treated her own dogs as treasured members of the family. She found joy in feeding neighborhood squirrels and watching them frolic in her yard. Her compassion extended beyond animals to people as well; she was known for her kind and generous spirit.

An artist at heart, Barbara especially enjoyed painting fall landscapes that captured the beauty of nature. Her yard was always well kept as she enjoyed maintaining a garden of both vegetables and flowers. She was also a talented cook whose fabulously decorated cakes, apple pies, and Thanksgiving feasts were legendary among family and friends. Her kitchen was often filled with warmth and the aroma of delicious meals lovingly prepared.

Barbara's commitment to service was evident in many aspects of her life. She was an active member of the Eastern Stars for many years and dedicated time to volunteering at the community museum, helping preserve history for future generations. Her wealth of knowledge, loving guidance, and passion for keeping history alive left a lasting impact on those around her.

Above all else, Barbara valued honesty, integrity, and hard work—principles she instilled in her children and grandchildren through both word and example. Her loving guidance shaped the lives of those she held dear, leaving behind a legacy of virtue that will endure for generations.

Barbara’s memory will be forever cherished by those who knew her. May her kind spirit and love of the Lord continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
