Barbara Ilene “Granny†Norton, 81, of Union City, Indiana passed away Thursday June 11, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born May 4, 1934 in Cass County, Indiana daughter of the late Harry J. & Mildred Gratham Myers.
She was a member of Peaceful Valley Friends Church, where she was active in delivering food to the Muncie Mission and Parker Pantry. She enjoyed eating with the Golden Coral group and was a pen pal for 20 Yrs. Barbara took pleasure in crocheting afghans, making homemade noodles and apple pies for family and friends. She worked at Westinghouse for 12 Yrs., Intercraft Company in Texas for 11 yrs. and AAA Interstate Transportation for 1 Yr.
Left to cherish her memory; husband of 37 Yrs. Ronald Gene Norton; 3 daughters, Deborah Lynn Smith of U.C., Indiana, Teresa Kay (Dan) Copeland of U.C., Ohio and Vicki Jo (Juan) Perez of Ingleside, Texas; 2 step children, Michael Norton of Dayton, Ohio and Linda (Duke) Temple of U.C., Indiana; 6 grandchildren, Matt (Kim) Hunt, Wade (Billie) Hunt, Tyler Heitkamp, Miranda Heitkamp, Ryan Arbuckle and Clayton Davisson; 8 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Bertha Alwine, Jeananne (Bill) Powers and Nancy Gimson; nieces and nephews also.
Barbara was preceded by her parents and a sister, Martha Myers.
Services are 2:00 p.m. Monday June 15, 2015 at Peaceful Valley Church, 5518 S. C.R. 500 E. Lynn, Indiana. Calling will be from 12:00 noon until the service with the Rev. Charlene Crouch officiating. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to: Cancer Services of Randolph County or Reid Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reichardfh.com
