Music by The Piano Brothers

Robert Allan Armstrong, 62, of Union City, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 2, at Reid Memorial Hospital in Richmond, Indiana.

Bob was born May 23, 1957 to Robert and Margaret Armstrong in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from Northwood High School in Northwood, Ohio. He worked as a salesman, laborer, manager, a rep for NFIB, and also managed a franchise of Gold Star Chili in Eaton, Ohio. Ultimately, Bob only accepted jobs that allowed him to be home for supper with his wife and children. He enjoyed every opportunity to preach and teach the Word of God (for a short while he worked at Precision Concrete, where he was affectionately known as “Preach”). He would say serving as an interim pastor was his life’s most important work. For the past several years, Bob attended Day Star Church in Union City, Indiana.

Bob was a devoted husband and father.  He met his wife Kathy, whom he called “the love of his life” while attending Bowling Green State University.  The two recently celebrated their fortieth anniversary. As a book lover, Bob valued the time he spent reading aloud to his only daughter, Crystal, who teasingly called him, “Bob-Robert.” As an avid sports fan, he took pleasure in coaching Sam and Steve’s baseball teams (his sons appropriately called him “Coach”).

Along with his loving wife, Kathy (Ripp) Armstrong, Bob is survived by his daughter Crystal Lea (Michelle), Sebastian, Florida; sons Samuel, Cincinnati, and Steve (Logan), Indianapolis; his parents, Bob and Margie; sister Karen Heilman, Columbus; brother Chris (Cheryl), Tiffin; grandchildren Kassie, Austin, Billy, and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1-3 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church in Union City, IN on Saturday, Feb. 8. The service remembering Bob begins at 3. Pastors Aaron Stiner and Nick Philiposian, officiating.

Because of Bob’s investment in young people, contributions may be made in his honor to: Youth for Christ of the Miami Valley, P.O. Box 266, 7603 Greenville-Celina Road, Greenville, Ohio 45331.
